Department of Information Technology of Don Bosco Institute of Technology (DBIT), Kurla, Mumbai successfully organized the "First ever Online National Level Paper Presentation Contest" in Mumbai University for B.E. students of Electronics & Telecommunications, Computer and Information Technology (I.T.) engineering branches. ENCORE'15 received an overwhelming response from students within Mumbai and across the country. The entire contest was executed virtually within a span of 20 days from registrations to payments, to presenting and evaluating student's projects. The project papers received from students underwent a blind review process by a panel of highly qualified and well experienced professors. Six best papers per branch were presented. The online contest proved to be cost effective enabling participation by a wider audience on an all India and global level, saving a huge amount of travel cost and time. DBIT is the first Institution in Mumbai University to have telecast the contest live from its campus from 31st March to 1st April, 2015 on http://encore.dbit.in. There was live streaming of the presentations in the TEIT and TEComps classrooms as a learning experience for the future potential participants. On the day of the event there were more than hundreds of viewers of the live streaming of the presentation.
ENCORE'15 encourages new ideas and gives students a platform to share their ideas and innovations across the globe through video conferencing, thus getting them professionally toned for corporate careers. Professors from the University and experts from Tata Consultancy Services(TCS) were invited to judge the quality of projects. Participants presented their papers from the comfort of their homes by sharing their screens with the judges followed by a Q/A round. Valuable inputs by the judges were highly appreciated. Cash prizes worth Rs 30,000/were awarded(1st prize Rs.5000, 2nd prize Rs.3000&3rd prize Rs.2000).
